This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around New York is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Indonesian food. Strong in flavor, the beef is really good. The service is high quality and they give to go boxes as well.

I got the chicken gulai. I grew up in Indonesia and I am not impressed. I did not finish the food. The gulai sauce is somewhat flavorful, albeit a bit spicy. The spice level is almost Indonesian level I would say, so not necessarily bad, but if you can't stand that level of spiciness, you won't be able to taste anything else. But the chicken itself is tasteless, definitely was not marinated with the sauce, which is a shame. Service was great though.

11/10 for sure! A total hidden gem in the Asian food hall! We walked past after having breakfast and we saw there was a huge queue. I went to the front and asked what are you selling that is so popular and I found out the lady behind the till was actually the owner! She was super friendly and let us try samples of their sauces. She was so warm that we said when we're hungry later we will come back! The food was honestly amazing and it was our first time trying Indonesian food. She even came and found us in the food hall to give us a sample of a traditional Indonesian drink. Amazing experience!

Jakarta Munch is a wonderful spot in the Southeast Asian street-food food court of Urban Hawker. I couldnβt make up my mind what to order (Iβm an omnivore who eats vegan regularly) so I asked for a suggestion from the person at the register. She offered advice and even let me sample two different sauces. I ended up getting a bowl with the spicy gulai (coconut curry) and chicken thighs over jasmine rice. The flavors were excellent, the vegetables and wonton chips were fresh. It was a hearty portion and I didnβt walk away hungry. With tip it was less than $20.25. An excellent bargain in an expensive city. Itβs in a nice version of a food court, but a food court nonetheless, so I could give only 4 stars for atmosphere. (I presume this helps keep the food prices reasonable.) I will definitely be back to Jakarta Munch. Overall I give this place 5 stars. They are vegan friendly and have gluten free options.

Yummy foods and beautiful owner running the restaurant. Had a great meal here. The opor and rendang were delicious, you could tell it was fresh made. We also loves their avocado smoothies. It bring back our memories when we were in Indonesia. We definitely will be going back!
